Perşembe Pazarı

I discovered today that you haven’t lived in Istanbul unless you have visited the open air market that takes place every Wednesday on Darüşşafaka Cd., very close to Fatih Mosque and the Arabic Market. It is called the Perşembe Pazarı which literally translate into the Wednesday Market. I happened on it by mistake today as I was walking home from a friend’s house in Fatih. The market sells everything imaginable and takes up a good chunk of the neighborhood. It starts at 8:00 and goes on until about 19:00. This market is very much alive with characters. I recommend it even if only for people watching.

With love,

Martina
